Accounting

The obligation to maintain accounts and prepare financial reports applies to sole proprietorships and partnerships with annual sales of at least CHF 500'000, as well as to all legal entities, including public limited companies, limited liability companies, cooperatives, associations, and foundations. In contrast, sole proprietorships and partnerships with less than CHF 500'000 in sales, associations and foundations not obliged to be registered in the commercial register, and foundations exempt from appointing an auditor are only required to keep accounts on their receipts and disbursements (cash method of accounting) and track their financial position accordingly.
